In accordance of CDC guidelines, NCAPPA Annual Conference is Cancelled for 2020.
Hello NCAPPA School Members and Business Partners,
I wanted to reach out to you with news of the COVID-19 virus’ impact on this year’s conference. As the virus has continued to spreadthroughout the country and our state of North Carolina, K-12 schools, community colleges, universities and businesses have all started to be impacted. We all hoped that this spread would be limited, but it has become apparent that is not the case. Wake Forest was one of the first to make travel restrictions to protect their student body and faculty and staff. Shortly after, the K-12 schools, community colleges and university systems started to follow, along with more and more businesses. This is all in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus and to protect the members of our population who are at greatest risk. With all the travel restrictions and the potential of being exposed to this very infectious virus, most everyone is being impacted and practicing social distancing.
After many long conversations and meetings with our conference planning committee, it has been determined that it is in the best interest of our members to cancel this year’s conference at Wake Forest. This was a tough decision and is a first for NCAPPA. This year’s NCAPPA 2020 Conference, on the beautiful Wake Forest University campus, was looking to be one of the best yet! I want to take a chance to thank everyone that has helped with the planning of this conference and I can’t speak highly enough of how much fun this process has been. People don’t realize how much effort goes into the planning, but once the conference starts we all see the payback of those efforts.
I want to thank all the Business Partners that signed up for this year’s conference. If it wasn’t for you, NCAPPA wouldn’t be the conference it is today. If you don’t believe that, ask any other state chapter in APPA and they will tell you NCAPPA is the model. With that being said, we are working on a few options for our Business Partners who registered for the NCAPPA 2020 Conference and sure hope that you will be at next year’s conference.
Next year’s NCAPPA conference will be held at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. So back to the mountains! Let’s carry this year’s momentum and make NCAPPA 2021 just as great!
I want to take a minute to thank Kevin Ingalls. Kevin has been a part of NCAPPA since 2014 and has held multiple positions. Kevin is the main reason we have a golf event and has worked hard to make that event what it is today. Before coming to NC State, Kevin was a member of SCAPPA while at Bob Jones University. A couple years back he held his hand up and volunteered to be president-elect for NCAPPA. He didn’t realize that the position would be short-lived. He would soon have to step into the role of president as the president at the time unexpectedly left the university system. He had the difficult task of finding more volunteers to fill roles and lead NCAPPA through one of it’s roughest years since it began. Now Kevin is retiring and I want to say how much we all appreciate what he has done. Because of Kevin’s hard work and sacrifices, this year was going to be one of the best yet. Kevin we can’t thank you enough!
Again, I want to thank everyone at Wake Forest. You were all so fun to be around and made this planning such a wonderful experience. NCAPPA board members thank you all for what you have done and continue to do! Business Partners what can I say, without your support we wouldn’t be where we are today! School Members thank you for attending! App State…. Get ready because next year is going to be GREAT!
Everyone stay safe and I’m praying that you and your families remain well through this pandemic.

The Vision Of NCAPPA
It is envisioned that NCAPPA is a grass roots organization which serves its members as they provide facilities services. The goal is to provide leadership and technical training in areas such as Housekeeping, Grounds, Utilities, and Trades for Supervisors, Superintendents, Managers, and Assistant Directors in order to improve services to educational facilities.
Welcome From NCAPPA President Kevin Ingalls
After our recent, most productive conference to date at ECU in Greenville, NC, we are reminded of the importance of these yearly conferences in May. NCAPPA is still the #1 organization for providing up-to-date, valuable resources and training for educational facilities personnel across the State of North Carolina.
These conferences are team efforts! We owe many thanks to our NCAPPA board members and host schools for going over and above their daily work obligations to make the conferences operate smoothly and efficiently. We also appreciate the service and support from our School Members and Business Partners, without whom these events would not be as popular and plentiful with current information and resources.
I have been involved with the APPA organization for over 17 years in various capacities. Starting out in SC with SCAPPA for eight years and serving on their board as the Director of Member and Business Partners to nine years later here with NCAPPA and serving again as Director of Member and Business Partners and now President this past year.
As I serve my second term as NCAPPA President, I am honored once again to work with our 2019-2020 board to provide the best networking, training, and peer support for all of our state and private schools across North Carolina. I encourage all of us to continue learning and sharing our past successes and failures with each other so we may aptly assist our great schools from K-12 to College.
We are here to stay and getting better with each year that passes! Let’s make this year at Wake Forest a year that will exceed others with EXCELLENCE and TRAINING beyond comparison. Set your calendars!
